PECTUS EXCAVATUM

 

Symptoms

  • Decreased exercise tolerance
  • Rapid heartbeat or heart palpitations
  • Recurrent respiratory infections
  • Wheezing or coughing

 Diagnosis

  • Chest X-ray. 
  • Computerized tomography (CT). 
  • Electrocardiogram. 
  • Echocardiogram. .
  • Lung function tests. 
  • Exercise test.  

Treatment

Milder abnormalities may not need much treatment other than reassurance. However if it is causing severe functional problems or image problems ,it can be corrected by surgery.
